All the glitter, metallic, leather and sequins of NYE are often pieces you retire until next year despite how much you loved them when you bought them just a couple weeks ago. So, how about if you could transition them into the new year without sparkling a little too much down the street? It is the perfect win, win, that’ll add glamour to your outfit.
How to Transition NYE Outfits into the New Year
Downtown McKinney, TX, January 7th, 2017
As I stared at my closet today, I instantly knew what I wanted to wear. This glittery piece is the perfect winter white/silver color that pairs perfectly with an abundance of colors. However, I decided to pair it with neutrals and dress it down.
There are three steps I go to in playing down “dressy” pieces/ NYE outfits. It is easy to transition statement pieces if you remember how to pair it with other things. First, I always try to find the other main item I will wear with it and make sure it is super casual. For example, I knew this dress is fancy so I grabbed a longer, casual cardigan to balance it out.
Next, I look to my accessories and shoes. I make sure to pick items that are still well put together and feminine, but do not scream “fancy”. These flats, although glittery and glamourous, are the perfect casual shoe go-to shoe. I also love these ones, these and these. I grabbed my favorite Anthro earrings, my mom’s little Coach purse and walahh, casual glamour.
Lastly, one of the easiest, but most important steps is your hair. You must make sure you go for the “day wear” look. Whether you throw it in up with one of these velvet bows, a curled pony, loose curls or a braid, you’ll tie the casual look together well. I would love to know your tips/tricks you follow to breaking out your NYE outfits in the new year!
