Although the holiday of love has passed, I think self love has become such an important topic these days. With the rise of social media, influencers, celebrities and technology, loving yourself seems to be getting harder and harder. However, I think if you can rid all the comparisons in your head- being happy with who you are can happen faster than you think!
Loving Who You Are
Kent, Ohio, February 20th, 2017
I teamed up with PB Teen to share why I think loving yourself is so important to finding joy! There are many factors that help me love who I am, but a big one is a strong support system. My siblings and I are blessed enough to have parents who have always strengthened our confidence. On top of that I have a boyfriend and best friends who believe in building confidence, rather than breaking it. I think surrounding yourself with people who life you up, rather than tear you down is a huge factor in loving yourself.
Secondly, something I have tried really hard to get back into, is working out. There is something about exercising that allows you to be more comfortable with yourself, despite the physical state you may be in. I know I am a constant work in progress and may not be where I want to be in the long run, but as long as I am trying- I am happier.
Next, I think spending a little extra time in the mornings is everything. Putting on an outfit you love and doing your hair works magic. When you feel confident in what you’re in, loving yourself is easy.
Lastly, I think the hardest thing for everyone (including me) to do is to stop comparing. My mom has always told us we are too special to try and be someone else and I think it has been what helps me get through comparisons. She always said there is going to be someone prettier, smarter, skinner and wealthier than us, but no one just like us- so why try and be someone else? I think that is so important!! If we all tried to be the same person, this world would be so boring! We are all special. It may be incredibly cheesy, but it is true. I think if we all took a moment and realized our talents, quirks, and specialties we would be happier. Be unique, kind and uplifting. This world has enough bad things going on- add a little good!
Thank you PB Teen for sponsoring this post- all opinions are my own, pinky promise!
