Well it is officially summer time and the first thing that comes to my mind is the beach and all the fun beachy clothes that come along with that theme. However, I am not going to the beach this summer. But trust me, that doesn’t have to stop you from dressing like it. It’s really just a state of mind anyway 🙂 These pants are hands down one of my favorite pieces because they are as comfy as pjs, as light as a feather and fun as can be. If you don’t own any linen pants or just plain, cotton, light beach pants I recommend you go get some while they’re hot! Billabong, Roxy, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters all have spectacular options. They are so fun to throw on with a pair of wedges and a tank for a warm summer night out! No matter where you are at, with the right pieces you can pretend you are at the beach even if you are stuck at home working like me!
The more I look at my outfits the more I realize I thoroughly enjoying matching by not matching at all. It is the best and most fun way to dress. So stress free! This skirt is such a good piece to have in my closet (I think the pockets on it win me over), I feel as if you can be 15 and wear it or be 25. It all depends on how you dress it up! This purse is the same style as the brown Coach one I always carry and I happened to run across this while thrifting for 12 DOLLARS (I know, 12 dollars for a classic Coach purse, it’s fabulous). I can never ever get sick of plaid. The more plaid you have in your wardrobe the more options you have. You can dress plaid up with a skirt, or throw on a pair of jeans. No matter what you wear just wear it with confidence. Don’t be afraid to wear different layers of different fabrics! I tend to think the more layers you wear the more vintage and unique your style looks.
It has been a long, snowy, cold week here and through all the fashion homework and feet of snow I couldn’t manage to post, but nonetheless I am back! Hiya! I hope you all are a little less stressed and a little bit warmer than I. Through all the shows on fashion week, my study of other blogs and my addiction to Pinterest I have loved the idea of bright colors in the winter/early spring. My new favorite colors for the spring are light blue and pastel pink. I am trying to hold back my spring fever as much as possible. However, I love this deep coral skirt because I can throw it with an outfit like that for the winter or with a completely different match up for summer. These socks are so something my 4 year old self would’ve worn/owned but when I saw them I just felt as if the 4 year old Rachel was ready to bring them back into style. No matter the season or the weather a little color brightens up any day.
Well this was one of those moments where my mom would’ve told me to get down because it probably was not entirely too brilliant to stand on a stone wall covered with snow and ice looking out over a 70 foot waterfall, however it looked a little too adventurous and fun not to. What’s a better view of the frozen waterfall than from there? Finding a good sweater that is comfy yet socially acceptable is one of the most difficult tasks. It’s like finding a needle in the haystack. The sweater was definitely a needle to me. It is incredibly comfortable as well as unbelievably comfy but on top of it all is a fun, bold piece in the midst of winter for such a reasonable price. Good sweaters aren’t easy to locate and definitely are not cheap. So if you find a good one don’t let it go! And maybe put it on and go take an adventure. Enjoy the world at last a little today before it gets dark and you lost your chance.
Believe it or not my number one pet peeve in life is red and green together during all times but the holiday season. So when I put this outfit together I could not help but chuckle to myself a little bit. However, green and red being complementary colors play off each other very well. So that being said I have learned to find different shades of red and green and coordinate them together. These pants have grown to be one of my favorites due to the fact that they are a statement piece yet they are still the typical denim blue allowing them to be a tad more subtle than other statement jeans. These boots were 10 dollars and such a bargain. Target definitely allows they shoppers to take advantage of sales come the end of seasons. So put on your light weight trench coat, your statement jeans and your ankle boots and go on an adventure because we sure did today. Oh and don’t forget your bubble umbrella…they are too fun not to have one!
This hat has lasted so many years and never fails. It has gone from “looking like Madeline” to “a British Cop” to “something Blair from Gossip Girl would wear” however I like it solely because I can never ever find hats that fit my head and this one does (that’s sad but so true). This jacket I found in Chicago and got it for 12 dollars, what a steal, I know! As the ankle boots grow more popular I adore them ever more and more. They give you more outfit options than tall boots and the ability to dress them up or down quite well. None less these, the winter season is coming to an end soon (even though it fills like it will never end) and boots will be put away in your closet till october. But now is the time! Go get the boots you love because I promise they will be on sale within the next couple weeks! The best way to shop for certain seasons is when its a different season. So shop for summer now and winter in a couple of months. That is how you will find the steals. Till then drink some hot chocolate, stay warm and go sled!
And thank you to Haylee and Hannah Fisher for bearing the cold and helping with the shoot. Life is always better with a few friends by your side. You both rock!
Today’s weather was a little on the brutal side, as you can probably tell my hands are frozen, numb, and bright red. But they say beauty is pain right? Which sort of sums up the world of fashion. Some days sweatpants and nikes are just a much more pleasing option and I will be the first to admit it but somedays you just have to squeeze into the jeans and put on your earrings. This cardigan is probably the greatest deal I ever have found in the history of the world. It was originally 55 and I got in for 4.95…I don’t think deals get much better than that. I think the best purchases you can make are cardigans and jackets because they have the ability to fluctuate between seasons along with the ability to make the pieces you wear it with work for multiple seasons. This creme top is one of my favorites in the summer but when I throw it with a winter colored jacket/cardigan it can become one of my favorite winter tops too. This bag was a dollar and twenty-five cents (…I know, such a dent in my wallet) at Goodwill and I was way too thrilled when I found it. Despite the cold and the snow, if you find the right coat and the right boots you can fight any weather.
Kimono- Forever 21, Lace Top- Francesca’s, Jeans- American Eagle, Purse- Coach, Flats- Target, Necklace- My Mema’s
Try- A circle skirt and camisole with boots, or a peasant flared top, colored jeans, statement necklace, a clutch.
The closer spring gets the more Kimono Cardigans are appearing and honestly I am slightly loving it. They are just enough to catch someone’s eye yet subtle enough that someone who isn’t full of fashion bravery could wear it and feel good in their skin. You can find them in all shapes, sizes and colors. The Coach purple has not left my side since I got it. It is just the right color to serve a purpose in all seasons; as well as just the right size to travel with me whenever i may go. Never think because of the winter season that color has to be stripped from your wardrobe. It is just finding the right tones of Plums, Jewels, Forest Greens, and Crisp Oranges. Color isn’t afraid of the winter so don’t let your winter wardrobe be afraid of the color.
